Twistbands

Hey everyone!

Have you heard of Twistbands? I stumbled upon their website while looking for fun Christmas presents to buy last Christmas (2011). I can't remember why, but i didn't end up buying any at that time. They kept crossing my mind for months after. To tell the truth I couldn't figure out why I kept thinking about them because they weren't really that exciting to me, but I would visit their webpage occasionally to look at them again. I realized that while they weren't exactly this amazingly exciting or interesting product, they were super cute! So what are these Twistbands? Well they are hair elastics! Yup, like I said not very exciting! But going back to their webpage numerous times I decided it was time to just give in and order some! I thought hey, while i'm ordering and paying shipping (only $3.95. but hey still counts!), I might as well order a bunch! So i ended up ordering about 18 of them! There are so many cute colours (even tie-dyed ones! super cool!) and I couldn't decide which ones to get! So I ended up narrowing it down to 11 for me and few for a couple of my friends to try out! Twistbands are great because they come in soooo many colours, they look cute on your wrist, and they don't leave indents in your hair. One of the biggest benefits of using a Twistband is that they are gentle on your hair; they don't pull at your hair and cause as much breakage or split ends. Awesome! So here are the ones that I got for myself!

These are all of the colours I got for myself! They come on a little chain with a cute little Twistband tag. Very easy and basic but still cute.
Neon is always cool for summer. Love the brightness of them!
These colours are very on trend for this spring and summer! If you've noticed, orange/tangerine is very popular this season so that's why I ordered a bright orange and the peachy one beside it. Lilac and mint green always seem to be popular colours for spring and summer so I thought those would be great too!
The great thing about Twistbands is that they look a lot cuter on your wrist than regular hair elastics. They look on their own or layered up with other twistbands or whatever bracelets you happen to be wearing. One of the great things about them is that they aren't tight on your wrist like other elastics, They don't cut off circulation of leave indents in your skin.

If you think these are cute too you can check out the website www.thetwistband.com
-they also sell headbands and shoelaces!
Oh and also shipping takes a week or less so you don't have to wait to long to get them! you also get a tracking number so you can see when you'll be getting them!

Trendy Purses for Spring and Summer

HI!

So far this Spring I've been noticing and increasing trend it a certain kind of purse. The trend is extremely cute and will most definitely be continuing into Summer! Have you been noticing any trends, and have you already figured out what trend I'm talking about? There are two trends I've noticed and they go great together. The first trend I've noticed is very small purses that have long straps that can go over the shoulder; cross-body or can be removed completely to change the purse into a clutch that can be carried or tucked under your arm. The second trend is bright coloured purses. I absolutely love bright colours, and they seem to be popping up all over this year in accessories, clothing and shoes! So awesome! These small and bright purses can be found at pretty much any store that sells purses and come in all different shapes and colours. Whether you only have $10-$20 dollars to spend on a new spring and summer purse, or you have plenty of extra cash to splurge on a trendy bag, you should be able to find some great ones! Anyways here are a few examples of these small and/or bright trendy purses that I currently own, and a few recommendations that I think are super cute and that I wish I had!

I bought this really cute envelope style pink purse of Ebay. The gold chain is long enough to wear cross body or to hang off the shoulder. It is also removable so i can carry this bag as a clutch. I also ordered the same purse in yellow because I loved it so much, but it's still in the mail! It fits pretty much all the essentials like your wallet (mine is fairly thin, so if you have a big one, you might need to downsize for this purse), your phone, your glasses or sunglasses(maybe both), whatever lipstick and/or gloss you're wearing that day, your keys. etc. This purse was only about $9 and as I said it was purchased off Ebay, so pretty much anybody can afford it and have access to it. It comes in about 11 colours, so you can pick one that you like best or even get a couple like I did! Here is the link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/110788818380?var=410049651985&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_12913wt_1010

This is another purse I bought recently. If you aren't a big fan of bright colours, but want a trendy purse for spring and summer than this is a great option. It is a great size to fit whatever you need to take along and even though it's just a basic black, the gold hardware and gold chain detail make it a little trendier than just an all black bag. I bought this one at Walmart for about $14 and it also comes in an Ivory colour.

I actually bought this purse last summer, but i thought it was still on trend with this season so I included it. This one is really cute and feminin with the floral pattern and the little bit of frilly-ness in the fabric. I bought this for probably around $10 at a store called "Stiches" I'm not sure if there are many of these stores around but purses like these can be found in many stores, just keep an eye out!

I bought this purse off the Forever 21 website a while back. I love this purse because it has the removable silver chain and it has a few different openings to hold all the things I carry around! I love the fold-over style and the silver closure. This is the perfect purse for pretty much any occasion because it can be used at a more formal occasion or just everyday use.

This is another bag I purchased off of Ebay. It was also from last fall so I'm not sure if it's still available. It costs about $12, so again very affordable and accessible to everyone. Its really nice because the chain can be switched to be a long over the shoulder bag, into 2 shorter length shoulder chains or also tucked inside for a clutch style, or as you can see in the middle picture with a very small and short chain to use as a handle.
Ebay has a lot of great trendy things to buy, whether it be the purses  meantioned here or jeweley and clothing, sometimes it just takes a lot of browsing to find things you like.

All four of these purses are on the Forever 21 website and they are all under $25. All are great options whether you want to get colourful or stay neutral with you purse.

These four are all the Rebecca Minkoff Mac Mini purse. I think it is soooo adorable and I wish i could get one. As you can see it comes in some really fun colours, and a lot more fun colours not shown here. This bad boy costs about $200, so if you really want to splurge on a trendy purse this season, than I think this is a great option!

Well those are just a few of the hundreds of purse options there are out there. Hope these examples were a little bit helpful in trying to decide what kind of on trend purse you want to invest in for the upcoming seasons!

TOMS!

Hey Everyone!

If you haven't heard of TOMS by now, i'm not sure where you've been the last year. But just in case let me just explain a bit about them. TOMS calls themselves a "one for one" movement. Basically, they are a company who sells shoes (adorable ones) and for every pair they sell, a child in need also gets a pair! So one for you, and one for a child who needs some shoes. Such an amazing idea right? The best thing about it is you get a really fashionable and comfy shoe while helping children around the world. The shoes run from about $50-60 here in Canada, and a little bit cheaper is the States (as everything is :s #bitter) Some people seem to think that is a bit pricey for such a basic shoe, but I like to just think about it like I'm actually buy 2 pairs (1 for me and one for a child) so they are really only about $30 each when you think of it like that, which is a great price! The classic style is the most popular but now there are other styles like the ballet flat and even wedges! These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and they look really cute with pretty much anything! You can get basic colours to match any outfit, or go for a crazier colour or design to stand out with a basic outfit.

These are all classic TOMS. This is only a few of the colours and designs you can find. There are so many different styles to choose from and there are usually new ones coming out for every season.

This is the new line of Ballet Flats that TOMS has released this spring. They are a little bit more expensive, about $80 rather than $60. I haven't warn any of these yet but I'm sure they are just as comfortable and as you can see they are very cute. These would be great for work or a dressier occasion! Also would be great to have as backup on a night where you are wearing heels for a long time.

These are the wedges that you can get from TOMS. I've never actually seen anybody wear these, but i think they are pretty darn cute! These also come in different colours and they even have a sequined design! If they hold the same comfort as classic TOMS than these would be an awesome thing to wear on a fancier night out, instead of heels!

So these are just a few of the TOMS that you might be able to find. They are available at a ton of stores, so you should be able to find them pretty easily!
NOTE: TOMS tend to stretch out when you wear them, so you should buy a half or even a whole size smaller than what you would usually get. Go try them on at the store and buy a pair that feels a little bit too tight, because in a week or two, they will feel just right!

Happy Shopping!

Allison

Current Favorite Nail Polish Trend

Hey!

My favorite nail polish trend right now is having a glitter nail or a nail of a different colour. I always use my ring finger for this trend, but you could use any finger you want, or maybe even two. This trend has been going for a while, but it's a simple way to add a little bit of a pop to your regular nail polish look! It's super simple and I absolutely love the way it looks.
This is an example of one of the many glitter nails I have warn in the past few months.

This is what I currently have on my nails! Mint nail polish is pretty popular right now, so I decided to give it a try! I decided to add a powder blue to my ring finger to make it a bit different. I really love the way it looks! (Don't mind the rough edges)

So there's an easy way to make your usual nail polish look a little bit different, and trust me people will notice and like it! Especially the glitter nail!

Favorite Trends of the Moment

The High-Low Skirt/Dress
Lots of REALLY cute high-low dresses can be found at Forever 21 &
on their website.

The Maxi skirt.
Love, love, love the maxi skirts. I also love the
idea of tying your t-shirt or long shirt in the front so it doesn't hang
awkwardly. Again, Forever 21 has some great Maxi skirts. Although,
you can pretty much find them anywhere!

Ombre Nails
There are lots of different ways to get the ombre look. But I find this one is

Ombre Hair
Light- Dark or Dark-Light. I personally think the dark to blonde looks
pretty awesome.

Dip-Dye Hair Coloring
I love this look.

Hair Feathers
Love these. So cute. I just bought a bunch of 10 synthetic feathers for hair
on eBay! Once I get them, I'll post about them and let you know how
they work!

The Sock Bun

Apparently this has been around for years.. but I just found out about it!! Took me a while to get it
but I got it eventually!

Through Pinterest of course.
Here's a pretty good tutorial:

Bright Colored Blazers
Super cute & super summery!

Bright Colored Pants
I personally don't know if I could pull them off.. but I definitely
Love the look!

The Waterfall braid!!!
So pretty & simple.
Here's how to do the Waterfall braid:
Step 1: Take a lock at the front and divide it into three strands.
Step 2: Weave 2 notches.
Step 3: Take a new fuse on top of the braid and add it to the top strand that you already hold.
Step 4: Let go completely the lower side (or take it to the person wearing).
Step 5: Take a new strand in the braid and use it as a third strand in the braid.
Step 6: Take a new fuse on top and add it.
Step 7: Repeat steps 4-6 until the braid is the desired length.
All around the head or on one side? Of course it is you decide where you stop. In the end, you can either continue with a single braid or tie the hair with an elastic, a clip or hairpins. Divide the strands woven into the rest of the hair for the ultimate cascade effect.
